SHORT SYNOPSIS:

Jackie, a seasoned gangster, had a sketch artist career for Vegas police until severe gambling debt and divorce haunted him. Now he's pursuing targets who've incurred gambling debts beyond the point of no return. One gambler dies unexpectedly, and the other escapes. Jackie's boss, Big Slick, texts him a Rent-a-Man ad. This ad sparks a conniving plan to summon a stranger in place of the escaped mark as a patsy by luring him to the execution spot out in the desert before his boss would be any the wiser. Dillon, a mysterious tourist transplant in Vegas, had a past as a futures broker for the Chicago Mercantile Exchange until substantial debt day trading lost him a promotion and his job. As the Rent-a-Man, he's a fish out of water summoned to the Las Vegas desert to play a subtle cat-and-mouse game until an ultimate future-changing twist.

In our feature RENT-A-MAN, the actor Jomri D. plays the antagonist, Jackie. Jackie starts, as usual, connivingly friendly, honest, relatable hiding his gangster identity as in his element. He's on a hit pursuing his latest targets believed to have incurred gambling debts beyond the point of no return. One gambler dies unexpectedly, and the other escapes. Jackie's boss texts him a Rent-a-Man ad. This ad sparks a conniving plan to summon a stranger in place of the escaped mark as a patsy by luring him to the execution spot out in the desert before his boss would be any the wiser. After his distrust consumes him, Jackie will stop at nothing to cover his missteps as his past haunts him, from his ex-wife to gambling debt being the culprit, which forced him into the underworld as a hitman. Ultimately, Jackie's power-hungry, narcissistic ways distract him from the protagonist's true nature.

THE ACTOR BEHIND JACKIE, THE ANTAGONIST

Jomri D. is a Filipino-Chinese-American actor whose work experience in Las Vegas has enriched him with over a decade of sales, venue, music, nightlife, and clientele interaction. His L.A. stomping grounds, and its high-quality surrounding developed his goal of ascending the entertainment industry.

RENT-A-MAN's Protagonist

In our feature RENT-A-MAN, the actor Jakub B. plays the protagonist, Dillon. Dillon starts as a fish out of water as he's summoned to an unfamiliar environment, the desert. He's then compensated for a new activity, hiking in the desert. Along the way, he plays coy adhering to the rules of his gig as a RENT-A-MAN using techniques such as topically relating, mirroring conversation, and agreeableness. He's repeatedly pestered to break his own RENT-A-MAN rules of not opening up to a client and succumbs to revealing that he's in debt from his previous career as a market analyst back in Chicago. Ultimately, Dillon is trapped, fears for his life, and has no choice.

THE ACTOR BEHIND DILLON, THE PROTAGONIST

Jakub B. is a Polish-American actor whose finance and management degrees opened him up to the world of accounting. His early love for film, Chicago upbringing, and curiosity for the subtleties of the human environment sparked his interest in exploring an entertainment career.

Raf is a screenwriter-producer-director who cherishes cultures, from differing palates to visionary palettes rounding out fascinating stories. His Publications Design M.A., Dutch foreign exchange, and a stint at UCLA's advanced screenwriting under Richard Walter evolved his perspective to own Mysterian Film Group. Rafal Zlak, RENT-A-MAN (2022) While Raf had written several feature length screenplays on spec in the mid 'OOs and late 'IOs, RENT-A-MAN was his first standalone feature-length film. Though it is being viewed on the global film festival circuit, this story of a seasoned gangster will hopefully receive distribution in the United States. The entire film consists of two characters hiking Valley of Fire State Park near Las Vegas. Though its twist ending has future-changing consequences for audience members to contemplate. Raf wrote, directed, produced, cast, edited and explored cinematography with the feature accomplishing a creative dream and kick-starting his film career.
